Hello and welcome to Liz-a-Licious! Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to follow me in my crazy life.
I'm a 30-something single girl living in the "Armpit of America" more commonly known as New Jersey. It's where I grew up, and I love everything about this state and who I am because of it. I HATE what "Jersey Shore" did to the perception of NJ because these fools are NOT from NJ, but I still love to watch and I still love my bronzer and hairspary. I wish everyone could know that the show only shows a teeny tiny population of who inhabits the beach during the summer. I spent 7 summers down the shore and hardly ever ran into the guido fist pumpers. But I digress...
I'm currently working for a large European bank as a financial executive. I wish my job was as glamorous and scandalous as "Wall Street" and "Working Girl" make this line of work out to be (in the 80's), but in reality I sit in a cube all day stressing about the dumbest things. Occasionally I get to mingle at fabulous bank parties and charity events, but they're few and far between so I try to take advantage of every chance I get.
I'm lucky enough to have a several groups of friends that bring constant joy to my life. If I ever need to be cheered up these peeps are always there to shine some light on a dismal situation. One of my best friends, Lindz, and I have been together since we were 2 years old! She's tried a few times to ditch me but no luck yet :) What I love about my friends- besides their loyalty, strength, and wisdom- is that we have the best time all the time. Without fail we are brought to tears from laughing so hard every time we get together. I don't get to see or talk to many of them often, but I treasure them all and when we're together it's like no time has passed at all.
I'm even luckier to have my family. I'm a total daddy's girl and I don't care who knows it! My brother always jokes that our dad loves me more, but I secretly think it's true. My mom passed away when I was 21, and that changed me forever. I miss her every day, and would give up everything just to have her with me again. My father has since remarried and my step-mom is one of the most loving and generous people I know. I'm so blessed that she has come into our lives. While I'm not close with my extended family on my dad's side, I am extremely tight with my mother's family. My cousins and I are all best friends and my aunt's are all like moms to me.
My hope is that through this blog you will find some entertainment, some laughs, and some insight into who I am. Along the way you may also pick up some style ideas...if only I could have Rachel Zoe's job!
Thank you again for reading and I'll see you all on Liz-a-Licious!
